Real Estate Market Update for October 2026
What’s New in San Francisco Real Estate
Analytics and charts from Compass
The San Francisco market strengthened dramatically in September, with buyers competing for less inventory. Active listings were 18% lower for houses and 33% lower for condos than a year ago, while overbidding surged and both median sales prices rose more than 15%. San Francisco remains the most competitive market in the region for both condos and single-family homes. I am seeing robust competition for desirable and well-prepared properties, and transactions are moving quickly. The end of year holiday season is approaching, and activity in the market tends to slow down considerably.
